Council's website targeted by hackers
AN investigation is under way after Amesbury Town Council’s website was targeted by hackers.
The website was hacked by the Moroccan Ghosts group on Friday.
Anyone looking at the site was greeted by a message from the hackers along with a picture of a banner showing Saddam Hussein.
The hackers left a message on the site related to the war in Iraq threatening not to give up the fight against the west.
It also gave a link to the Moroccan Ghosts’ Facebook page.
The town council continued to have problems with its website over the weekend and this week.
“We discovered it on Friday when someone called up to say there was a picture of Saddam Hussein on our website,” said town clerk, Wendy Bown.
“I don’t know why someone would do something like this to a town council website.
“The site is currently being upgraded, which might be why we have had these problems.
“We hope that once our new site is up and running it will not be a problem again in the future.”
