ANOTHER Salisbury retailer has shut up shop, blaming Wiltshire Council’s high parking charges.
Skate and snowboarding shop Goomama, in Winchester Street, has a notice on the door saying it has closed due to the charges.
The notice says: “Salisbury seems to be more interested in failing High Street chains than locally run independents. Want to know more – take a look at the parking charges anywhere in town and you’ll get the picture.”
The business was set up three years ago but closed its doors on Saturday.
The notice also said thank you to everyone who supported the shop. “We had an awesome time working with an amazing skate team – all will surely go on to greater things.”
On facebook, fans of the shop said they were disappointed to see it go. Jon Tribbeck said: “Another awesome shop gone, sorry to hear this.”
Paul Henderson Smith said it was a huge loss for Salisbury, and Sammy Ter Haar said the shop was “a tribute to the few local independent skate/snow shops in the UK”.
