Jewel thieves disable CCTV
4:00pm Saturday 7th September 2013 in News
BURGLARS disabled an alarm and stole the CCTV hard drive in a raid on a rural home in Ringwood.
Thousands of pounds-worth of jewellery and £8,000 cash from a safe was among the haul after burglars forced their way into the Cowpitts Lane property through a ground-floor window.
A diamond pendant with a pear-shaped diamond and three smaller diamonds set in 18ct white and yellow gold worth £8,000, and rings, necklaces and earrings worth several thousand pounds were stolen.
The burglary happened between August 10 and 11 and was discovered by a neighbour while the 61-year-old homeowner was away for the weekend.
Police conducted house-to-house enquiries, which revealed a vehicle was seen at the property at about 11pm on August 10.
A police spokesman said: “The alarm system was disabled, the CCTV hard drive was stolen and the alarm pads and sensor were removed.
“A safe was accessed and cash was stolen from within it.
“Was anyone in the area at the time? Did you hear or see anything suspicious? Have you been offered any expensive jewellery?”
