Forest cycle ride to raise cash for bladder scanner
1:00pm Friday 20th September 2013 in News
CYCLISTS of all abilities are encouraged to sign up for a charity bike ride in the Forest in aid of the orthopaedics department at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
The annual charity bike ride is on Sunday, October 6, with four routes to choose from: 10k, 20k, 30k or 60k.
Fundraising officer Barry Wilson said: “Whether you want a relaxing cycle with your family, or you want to really challenge yourself, there is something for everyone.”
The event starts from the White Buck Inn, Burley, at 9.30am. Registration is £15 per rider and proceeds will go towards raising £6,000 for a new bladder scanner.
Head consultant of orthopaedics Richard Hartley said: “The department is delighted money is being raised for a new bladder scanner.
“This will ensure comfort and wellbeing for patients after certain orthopaedic surgeries and will reduce the number of unnecessary catheterisations.”
For information or to sign up to the bike ride go to www.bournemouthhospitalcharity.org, call 01202 704060 or email firstname.lastname@example.org . Alternatively, drop into the charity office at the hospital entrance.
