More people with diabetes
THERE are more than 660 more people with diabetes in Wiltshire than there were a year ago according to a new analysis by Diabetes UK.
The charity’s analysis shows that almost 27,100 people in Wiltshire are now thought to have diabetes, which has gone up from more than 26,430 in 2012. This means that 7.1 per cent of people over the age of 16 in the area are now thought to have the condition, and Diabetes UK has warned that this proportion is expected to rise further over the next few years.
People are being urged to make sure they know the risk factors for Type 2 diabetes and have their risk assessed if any of these apply to them. Find out more from GP surgeries or at diabetes.org.uk/risk.
