Caro jumps for Ugandan schools
A TEACHER from East Grimstead plummeted 15,000 feet to raise money for children in Uganda.
Caro Bewes, a teacher at St Swithun’s School in Winchester, did a tandem parachute jump to raise more than £1,000 for the school’s Legging it for Lira challenge.
So far, as part of the challenge, members of the school community have walked, run, rowed, swum, cycled and ridden on horseback to cover a distance of 6,000 miles in 12 hours, raising more than £20,000 for the school’s sister school, St Katherine’s, in Lira, northern Uganda.
Caro performed her jump at the Old Sarum airfield.
She said afterwards: “This is something I have always wanted to do but hadn’t had a reason to until now.
“Travelling at 120mph through the clouds is an unforgettable experience which I enjoyed every minute of.
