Apple Day at community orchard
APPLES of all kinds are to be celebrated at an event to be held in Salisbury.
The second Apple Day to be held at the Community Orchard at Fisherton Recreation Ground on October 20 will highlight the joys of the varieties of the fruit grown in the UK and the part the apple plays in our everyday.
Salisbury City Council parks assistant Polly Mason said: “We will have a wide variety of apples for people to try; it is amazing how different they all look and taste! We already have apples donated from Heale House so there should be plenty to go around.”
Wiltshire Wildlife Trust is attending the event with an apple press too, and residents are encouraged to bring along their fruit for squeezing into fresh juice. People can bring apples and plastic bottles, and take the resulting juice home.
There will also be other apple-based activities, recipes to take home, expert advice and information available at the event, which will run from 10 to 12.30pm on Sunday, October 20 at the community orchard by the play area on Ashley Road, opposite the fire station.
For further information, or to donate apples to the event, contact Salisbury City Council on 01722 342860 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
