IT was party time at Greyfriars Pre-School in Ringwood on Saturday, as staff, parents and tiny tots danced the afternoon away to celebrate a glowing Ofsted report.

There was break dancing and bopping, face painting and food for about 60 youngsters and their|families plus the ten-strong staff, known fondly as the Pink Ladies.

Pre-school manager Sue Leather said: “Our party was amazing. Almost everyone we invited came along, so the turnout was fantastic. It was a real family celebration.

“It was the first time we have held a disco and the children loved the dancing.”

Ringwood Playgroup was started in 1961 by young mums Audrey Scott and Iris Goodwin, who wanted their little ones to meet other|children.

The former pre-school first admitted children in the summer of 1961 with just nine children aged between four and five meeting in the Hilary Christie room in Greyfriars Community Centre on Tuesday and Friday afternoons.

Now, half a century on, Greyfriars Pre-School is still thriving with 62 |little ones on the books.
