THERE is not one entrepreneur in this world who doesn’t want to attract high-paying clients.

So what do you have to do to achieve this?

1. Have clarity and know what it is you do.

Create a short pitch – a maximum of two sentences – and clearly explain your offering.

You need your name, same and claim to fame (same is where you would be listed in the yellow pages, and claim is ‘why’ or ‘what’ makes you unique).

For example, my name is Amanda. I am a marketing coach, and I specialise in marketing coaching for entrepreneurs who wish to achieve two years’ growth in as little as six months.

2. Develop a niche for your business.

If you market to everyone you will not attract the high- paying clients; you will just be known as a Jack-of-all-trades.

You can have more than one niche, but be careful not to have too many.

Do you want to pay a premium rate for a wedding photographer who also specialises in headshot, portrait, baby, school and boudoir photography? I rest my case.

3. Know who high-income owners are – what niche are they in.

They are doctors, dentists, solicitors, accountants – think about to whom you wish to sell.

4. Do not provide things for free.

Professionals do not do freebies.

If you want to attract highpaying clients then charge what you are worth, or you will attract people with little money, who are looking for free help.

5. Establish yourself as the ‘goto’ person for your niche.

I work on this with my clients to enable them to attract higher-paying customers.

Raise your profile, and make sure you are in the forefront of potential highpaying customers’ minds at all times.

6. Don’t sell your services by the hour.

If you charge £50 an hour the most you will ever earn is £50 x 37.5 (hours) x 40 (average number of working weeks). This equates to £75,000.

Putting your services into packages will enable you to earn a better wage from a high-paying client.

Think bronze, silver and gold packages.

7. Look the part.

If you dress sloppily, or don’t walk the walk and talk the talk, people will not buy from you.

Image consultants should dress well. Speaking trainers should speak clearly and confidently.

Business coaches should have a successful business and a track record.

8. Over deliver.

If you want to be paid well you have to deliver beyond expectations. Do this and your reputation will grow – so will your business.

This list is not exhaustive.

However, I use this and other steps to attract highpaying clients. I have a business coach and mentors to help me, just as I help others.

All top entrepreneurs have coaches and mentors; they do not go it alone, so ensure you don’t either.
