CHILDREN at Chilmark and Fonthill Bishop Primary School, who have been learning about the weather, had a special visitor to help them.
Dr Robert Marsh, a scientist and lecturer for the National Oceanographic Centre at Southampton University, visited the school as part of a day of climate talks in the Salisbury area organised by the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
Dr Marsh spoke to the children about the role of the world’s oceans in keeping climates stable and the importance of stable climates to the environment, as well as the impact of climate change.
The children then had the chance to ask questions.
Headteacher Karen Kearney said: “It is always inspiring for young children to have talks from visitors about major issues, such as climate change, because they will be the scientists and engineers of the future.
“If we can educate the children of today about looking after the environment, it will have a massive impact on the future of our planet.”
