A CRAFT shop has taken up occupation in a historic building in Ringwood, which has stood empty for almost a year.

Margot and Steve Smith held an open day at Tulip Crafts last Wednesday for the first day of trading at the former antique shop in the Market Place.

And along with selection of everything arty and crafty, the store has a meeting room at the back, which the couple hope to use for workshops, lessons and sessions.

Mr Smith said: “Sometimes the very large craft stores can be a little impersonal and because there is a lot of stock, people can become overwhelmed and can find it difficult to know where to begin.

“This shop is very friendly and welcoming. We want to hold workshops and become a place for people to hold their own sessions and crafty get togethers.”

Mrs Smith said: “We wanted to do something together and we just felt that this shop was perfect for us. It is a lovely space and there is plenty of room at the back for our craft tables.

“We are very excited about our new venture.”
