MORE than 100 people went along to Amesbury’s annual Tree of Light switch on last Monday.
The Rotary Club of Amesbury has arranged the Tree of Light in the town’s central car park for the last ten years.
Bulbs are illuminated on the tree in memory of fallen heroes and lost loved ones to raise money for local charities.
Traditional Christmas music was played by Shrewton Silver Band and children’s choirs from Amesbury Archer, Christ the King, Amesbury Junior and Newton Tony schools sang carols.
The lights were switched on by D’Arcie Higgins, the winner of a local school ballot, Father Simon Wilkinson dedicated the tree and Revd (Maj) Simon Bloxom-Rose of 32 Regt RA said a short prayer of remembrance and thanksgiving.
