PEOPLE living in the Woodford Valley are being urged to be prepared as the Environment Agency issues further flood warnings.

A flood warning has been issued due to rising groundwater levels, with more rainfall expected over the weekend.

The warning, the Environment Agency’s second most serious, affects people near upper River Avon, in Great Durnford, Upper Woodford, Middle Woodford and Lower Woodford.

River levels are expected to remain high for several days at least.

A flood warning was issued for areas near the River Blackwater, around Landford, this morning, and people are urged to be prepared as 10mm to 20mm of rain is expected tonight.

Less serious warnings are in force for the River Avon between Upavon and Salisbury, the River Wylye and tributaries between Wilton and Norton Ferris, and the River Ebble between Alvediston and Nunton.

The River Nadder from Donhead St Mary to Salisbury could burst its banks following 35mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours, with a further 10mm to 15mm expected to fall later today.

In the Cranborne Chase area springs have broken and groundwater is rising, especially in Bishopstone, Braemore, Britford, Broad Chalke, Chilmark, Downton, Fordingbridge, Mere and Sixpenny Handley.
