TWO residents have been evacuated from their homes in Salisbury’s Cathedral Close due to flooding.
Salisbury Cathedral is working closely with Wiltshire Council, the Environment Agency and emergency services to provide up to date information to residents and respond to flooding in the west and south west areas of the Close.
Cathedral staff have been on site since Sunday morning and are liaising with affected residents and reviewing properties with known issues. On Sunday afternoon a hundred sandbags were filled by staff and residents and distributed to those in need.
One resident was evacuated from their home on Sunday night and another has been evacuated today.
The cathedral itself remains dry and services including this evening’s Eucharist for the Feast of the Epiphany are continuing as normal.
