NICK Marsden has become the new chairman of Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, replacing Luke March who completed his term of office at the end of 2013.

Dr Marsden joins the hospital from University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust where he was a non-executive director and vice-chairman. “I know that the hospital has an excellent reputation with high standards of patient care and tremendous support and interest from the local community,” said Dr Marsden.

“It also has a strong and experienced board, dedicated governors and highly committed staff who work hard to deliver the very best care that they can for their patients.

“I’m delighted to have the opportunity of taking on the role of chairman and leading the board and the organisation through the challenges that we face now and in the future.” Peter Hill, chief executive of Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Nick is a strong strategic thinker with a wealth of commercial and NHS experience. He has a reputation for integrity and transparency and has a deep passion and pride in the NHS and the day to day work of NHS staff. “These are challenging times for the NHS and we are pleased that Nick has joined us as we work together to make continued improvements to local health services.”
