PEOPLE in a Salisbury ward will be casting their votes today to choose a new city councillor.

A by-election is being held in the St Martin’s and Cathedral Ward to pick a new councillor to replace Hilary Davidson, who stood down in November, after six months in the role, due to work commitments.

The candidates are Ken Black (Independent), Patricia Ann Fagan (Labour), Solomon Peter Rimer (Conservative) and Robert William Steel (Liberal Democrats).

Three polling stations at St Elizabeth Hall in Exeter Street, St Martin’s Primary School in Shady Bower and St George’s Hall in Lower Street opened at 7am this morning and will be open until 10pm.
