CHILDREN at Wylye Valley School in Codford have been on a journey through space.

There were lots of surprised faces when the children arrived back on Monday to find a big silver dome in their hall.

At the beginning of every term staff arrange an enrichment day to mark the start of a new topic. This term the topic is Take One Planet. Explorer Dome came to visit the school and brought a portable interactive planetarium dome. Once inside the dome, the pupils explored the solar system, moon and the sun.

Headteacher Debi Downing said: “The constellations looked very realistic and it gave them the feeling that they were really looking up at the night sky. With lots of interaction from the children it made science come to life.

“It captured their imagination and was very informative. The visit has really got the children interested and given them lots of information ready to start their new topic.

“Many children got home from school on Monday and wanted to carry on their learning which is one of the reasons why we have these special days at the start of a new term.”
