AN elderly woman was conned out of a large amount of money by three men in Salisbury last week.

The men had been delivering leaflets in the area of Sussex Road in a white Ford Transit van on January 6 when they visited a 77-year-old at her home at about midday and conned her out of more than £1,000.

Police are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen the men in the area at the time. Officers are also warning householders to be wary of people who cold call and to make sure that they are completely sure of their legitimacy before parting with any money.

Three men from Salisbury have been arrested and charged with fraud in connection with the incident. They have been released on police bail. Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Amanda Standen at Salisbury Police Station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
