SOLDIERS who have been wounded serving their country launched new route as part of the Help for Heroes Hero Ride 2014 on Monday.

The Puffing Peddlar Riders will set off from Tedworth House Recovery Centre in Tidworth.

They will cover 100 miles over two days, riding through Wiltshire, Hampshire and Surrey - where they will take on the iconic Box Hill, retracing the tracks of the London 2012 Olympic Road Race heroes. They will then take a turn into south London and stop at Blackheath Common before the grand finale group ride into the city centre.

In 2013, its inaugural year, Hero Ride raised £1.1m, with 1,300 people of all ages and abilities getting on their bikes in support of the thousands of men and women who are living with life changing injuries and illnesses sustained while serving in the forces.

Hero Ride 2014 promises even bigger and better, with the aim of raising £1.5m.
