Birthday for Splash
IT has successfully helped youngsters battle boredom for 25 years and now a Wiltshire charity is marking the milestone with some special events.
Splash Wiltshire was created in 1989 as police officers recognised that young people would benefit from organised activities.
In 1995 Splash became a registered charity, with independent trustees, but supported by Wiltshire Police.
Despite many challenges in the last 25 years, Splash has continued to offer thousands of young people free activities during the school holidays, and the Splash ethos of “developing skills, raising self-esteem and confidence and building friendship” remains strong.
Events to mark the anniversary this year include a young people’s celebration day and a formal fundraising event. The charity has also launched a new website and a new commemorative logo.
Splash manager Jayne Moverley said: “We are delighted to be celebrating our 25-year landmark. Splash is a unique service to Wiltshire and we would like to thank everyone who has supported the charity - we would not be here without you.”
Patrick Geenty, the Chief Constable of Wiltshire and Splash chairman, added: “Splash continues to provide brilliant projects to support young people in Wiltshire and we are looking forward to the next 25 years.”
The organisation is looking for volunteers to help as a support worker at activities or as a trustee or fundraiser.
