Salisbury man preparing for Bath Half Marathon in aid of MS sufferers
7:40am Sunday 23rd February 2014 in News
A SALISBURY man will be pounding around Bath in a half-marathon to raise funds to help multiple sclerosis sufferers.
Keen runner Peter Sammons, who is a property consultant for Salisbury-based chartered surveyors Myddelton & Major, is stepping out in the Bath Half Marathon on Sunday, March 2.
He is aiming to raise a minimum of £300 for the Wessex Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Therapy Centre in Warminster.
Peter, 36, who lives in Salisbury, said: "The inspiration behind my decision to run for the Wessex MS Therapy Centre was simply to run for a great local cause.
"MS is a difficult, varied and complex condition so to have a really friendly facility that offers sufferers a range of therapies to suit their needs is a fabulous help."
"Any sponsorship that people can offer to help would be much appreciated."
Peter, who has previously run in the Salisbury Half Marathon, is tackling the race in the build-up to the Virgin Money London Marathon run on Sunday, April 13. Then, he will be taking part in aid of the Livability charity, which runs the Victoria Education Centre in Poole for physically disabled children.
The Wessex MS Therapy Centre helps about 150 people with MS on a regular basis.
It offers oxygen therapy, physiotherapy, reflexology, counselling, yoga and massage. It also provides information, practical and emotional support for people with MS, their carers and families as well as social support.
The MS Society estimates that about 1,140 people have MS in Wiltshire.
