PEOPLE are being invited to come along to a free information session run by the Alzheimer’s Society.

Dementia friends sessions will be held at the charity’s office in Brown Street, Salisbury, to help people understand what it’s like to live with dementia and to encourage more people to become dementia friends.

Alzheimer’s Society aims to have one million dementia friends by 2015, working to help make England more dementia-friendly and to improve the lives of the 670,000 people currently living with the condition.

Camilla Alfred, dementia friends regional support officer from the Alzheimer’s Society, said: Less than half of us think we know enough about dementia. Dementia Friends is the perfect opportunity to be able to invite everyone up and down the country to improve their knowledge. Dementia Friends is not about creating experts, it’s about helping people understand a little bit more about what it’s like to live with the condition - and then turn that understanding into action. Anyone of any age can be a dementia friend."

Ms Alfred will be running the session on March 19 at 11.30am and 2.30pm.
