A CARPET of daffodils will welcome visitors to a church fundraising event this Sunday and next Sunday.
St James’ Churchyard, Alderholt, has an array of spring flowers, including an impressive spread of wild daffodils.
These are the descendants of the flowers that used to be common in the countryside but are now quite rare. They are hardier, smaller with more delicate features than the cultivated varieties.
Teas and home-made cakes will be on sale from 2pm to 4.30pm in the church hall on both Sundays, with all profits going to support the village school’s 30-4-30 appeal, celebrating the 30th anniversary of its present building in the village centre.
