A NEW feature film set during the banking crisis of 2008 is being filmed in Wiltshire and Dorset.

The topical 5 Greedy Bankers, written and directed by Simon DaVison, stars Ramon Tikaram, who has appeared in Game of Thrones, Casualty and EastEnders, and Pippa Haywood, who is best known for TV comedies such as Green Wing and The Brittas Empire.

It has the support of several businesses in the county, including Foxtrot Vintage Clothing, The Guild of Fine Food and Cravenplan Web Design.

DaVison, of Imperious Films, said: “It’s about two victims of the grasping greedy bankers deciding it’s time for a special kind of revenge.

" They’re not violent; they just take the bankers to pieces with some very sharp stings and one big scary heist. It’s a pleasing way to take revenge, and I think audiences will get some deep satisfaction as well.”

The writer has been working with young filmmakers in the area, giving some a chance to be a part of the crew. Filming has been taking place in the Nadder Valley, and audiences will recognise locations such as The Compasses Inn, the Nadder Hall and the Central Stores in Shaftesbury.

Next week, the crew will be filming a press conference scene in Salisbury .

Haywood, who lives in the area, was delighted to be involved. She said: “As well as the fantastic script and characters, it’s great to be filming so close to home.

“The film’s subject matter is close to my heart and it has been a lot of fun taking light-hearted revenge on poorly-regulated bankers.

“The film’s production will hopefully be a useful experience for the young people involved who are interested in embarking on a career within the industry, and it’s great to know we have so much local talent to draw upon.”

The film is set to be completed by the end of the year and is planned for theatrical release in cinemas nationwide.
