A MAN who glassed a 17-year-old boy who confronted him after he groped the teenager’s 16-year-old friend has been given a suspended jail sentence.

Craig Trott, 30, was at Salisbury Pleasure Fair in October 2012 and had been drinking when he grabbed the girl.

The girl’s friends confronted and Trott went into Pizza Hut in Blue Boar Row and picked up a glass before going back into the street and hitting one of the boys in the head several times with the glass, leaving him permanently scarred.

Trott, of Shirley Road, Bournemouth, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault and was sentenced at Salisbury Crown Court on Monday.

Judge John Dixon said: “You really are old enough not to have got yourself involved. When the worse for drink you behaved in a foolish manner which brought trouble down on your head. But you brought trouble down on somebody else’s head when you struck a boy with a broken wine glass. You brought all this on yourself.”

He sentenced him to eight months in prison, suspended for two years, ordered him to undergo supervision for 18 months and a thinking skills programme and to complete 125 hours of unpaid work. He will also have to pay a £100 victim surcharge.
