BROWNIES in Downton have been brushing up on their first aid skills.
The group of 12 initially watched a video with children their own age role playing various scenarios, before learning how to call 999 and speak with the emergency operator.
The girls spent several pack meetings learning the four Bs - breathing, bleeds, burns and breaks as well as how to assess a scene before safely helping a person into the recovery position, treating them for burns or scalds or administering CPR.
Two of the senior sixers also learned about shock an earned their advanced first aiders badge.
Kirstie Benton, Brown Owl said: “The girls absorbed the knowledge really well, which showed when they where quizzed at the end.”
