PEOPLE in Salisbury are being given the opportunity by Alzheimer's Society to make a difference to the lives of local people with dementia by becoming Dementia Friends Champions. A free training session is to be held at the charity’s Brown Street centre on Monday, April 14 starting at 10am.
The day-long session is part of Alzheimer's Society's Dementia Friends programme, an initiative launched this year to help members of the public understand what it might be like to live with dementia.
Dementia Friends are trained volunteers who encourage their families, friends and local community to learn more about dementia, and inspire them to help people with dementia live well.
Andrew Day, services manager at Alzheimer's Society's Salisbury office, said: "It's all about giving more people an understanding of dementia and the small things and actions that can make a difference to people living in their community.”
