Salisbury Journal: Teen market is a great success Teen market is a great success

A FREE market helping teenagers take their first steps into business was a huge success in Salisbury on Sunday.

The first Teenage Market was held in the Market Place and 40 stallholders, who were all under the age of 30, offered goods ranging from clothes, jewellery and cakes to graffiti art, plants and handmade dog biscuits.

Annie Scadden from Salisbury City Council said: “It went really well. The weather helped obviously, but we had a steady stream of people throughout the day and lots of people stayed to enjoy the entertainment.”

The Unit youth project hosted a live performance stage with singers, acoustic guitarists and dancers from Starcast and Elevate.

Mrs Scadden said: “We had some really good feedback from all of our traders. They all managed to sell something, which is exactly what it’s about – giving them the confidence to take a risk.”

Two more events are planned for July and October.
