A LOCAL organisation supporting people with brain injuries is holding a series of events next month.

Headway Salisbury and South Wiltshire is holding events to mark Action for Brain Injury Week and raise awareness of people affected by brain injury whose access to vital support services is being reduced as a result of funding cuts and welfare reforms.

The incidence of people with brain injuries in Salisbury and south Wiltshire is high as the area has a high number of road accidents that result in serious injury, a higher than average number of equestrian accidents and a large number of military personnel.

Action for Brain Injury Week will launch with a quiz at The Boathouse on May 9. There will be an exit collection at Salisbury Racecourse on May 15 and on May 16 local businesses will be taking part in Hats for Headway. The week will end with a fun day at Glenside specialist neurological centre in South Newton on May 17.
