PEOPLE are being encouraged to take part in this year’s Wiltshire Challenge.

More than 1,800 people took part in the last year’s challenge, organised as part of Wiltshire’s 2012 Legacy programme, and Wiltshire Council is hoping that even more people will get involved this year.

The challenge encourages people to move towards a more active lifestyle through swimming, walking, rowing or cycling, either on the tracks and trails of the Wiltshire countryside or at leisure centres.

There are four challenges to sign up for, to be completed between April 21 and June 13. Each challenge includes a bronze, silver and gold standard for people to achieve over 29 stages, which take them on a virtual journey to Glasgow – home of the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Councillor Jerry Kunkler, the council’s portfolio holder for leisure, said: “The 2014 Wiltshire Challenge offers a real mix of challenges for people to take part in, where they can have some fun while improving their health and wellbeing in the process.”
