A PLAN to transform the old UKLF headquarters in Wilton has been approved by Wiltshire Council’s strategic planning committee.
The application by Redrow Homes for more than 300 hundred homes along with community facilities was given the thumbs up by councillors at a meeting held in Trowbridge yesterday.
It includes a veterans’ care community providing homes, training and jobs for vulnerable ex-service men and women as well as a community-owned enterprise centre providing space for businesses and hot-desking facilities for home workers, a convenience store and retirement homes. The Wilton Hill project had gained the broad approval from residents, Wilton Town Council, and Wilton Community Land Trust, and planning officers had recommended the committee approve it.
The developers will also have to contribute to the cost of a new primary school at Fugglestone Red.
