A TABLE tennis festival was held at St Joseph’s School with a Paralympic swimmer Kate Gray.
Gray, a hopefully for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, worked with the youngsters as part of the Sky Sports Living for Sport programme.
The school’s Year 7 table tennis squad led the festival and Year 5 pupils from St Andrew’s Primary School were invited along so they could learn new skills and techniques.
The primary students were split into six groups and were each taught by a pair of players from St Joseph’s for a ten-minute session.
After each group had been taught all six sessions, the festival finished with a series of relay races in which all pupils had to use the skills they had learned throughout the morning to compete against their peers.
The day concluded with all St Andrew’s students receiving a certificate, presented by the St Joseph’s leaders.
