THE first annual meeting of the “new look” Fordingbridge Twinning Association will take place tonight at the Town Hall at 7.30pm.
Local schools have been invited to enter a competition entitled Souvenir, which translates to ‘remember’ in French, and the association has been delighted to receive 50 entries.
Some major events are being commemorated this year: it is the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings on the beaches of Normandy, and also the centenary of the beginning of the First World War.
The winners will receive their certificates and prizes from Mayor Malcolm Connolly and the programme of events for the next year will be announced.
There will be cheese and wine, and both old and new members are welcome.
Membership of the association costs £7.
This will be the first annual meeting for new chairman Alison Ayling.
For details contact Mrs Ayling or the association’s PR officer Derek Ayling on 01425 650770, or email Hippotrain@btinternet.com.
