IT was an Easter holiday to remember for 39 young musicians and French students from Salisbury’s Sarum Academy.

Pupils from years 10, 11 and Sixth Form travelled to Paris on a joint French and music tour.

They took in the sights and atmosphere of Paris and gave two concerts at contrasting venues in the city.

The first was in the sophisticated, leafy Temple District on a bandstand surrounded by blossoming trees, chic cafes and families enjoying a sunny Saturday afternoon.

Pupils performed a wide repertoire, with a range of solo, duet and ensemble performances, both a capella and accompanied.

The second concert was held in the more formal setting of the Foyer de la Jeune Fille, a residence of students run by nuns just off the Avenue Victor Hugo, close to the Arc de Triomphe.

Assistant principal Bruce Burley said: “Pupils gave confident performances in both venues, attracting attention from many a Parisien and were complimented for their presence and talent.”
