DOWNTON Cuckoo Fair will mark its 35th anniversary at the weekend, with fun-filled events for all the family.

Festivities will start at 10am with the crowning of the princess at the White Horse, which will be followed by a procession to the Maypole dancing area.

Two hundred and fifty craft stalls will be spread along The Borough at the fair, which attracted more than 20,000 visitors last year.

As well as a wide range of items for sale on the stalls, there will be live music, Morris and clog dancing, martial arts demonstrations, performances from local choirs and bands and a machinery show in the village.

There will also be plenty to keep children entertained and well fed, with games, performances, bouncy castles and many refreshment stalls.

And on Sunday with a Cuckoo Fair church service, bingo at the Memorial Hall, a classic car run and concert.

And on Bank Holiday Monday a car boot sale is being held at Downton Football Club from 9am.

Sellers will be charged £5 for cars and £10 for vans. Entrance is 20p for buyers.
