A CYCLIST who had to be airlifted to hospital after suffering serious injuries in a crash last year is undertaking two triathlons to raise money for the air ambulance.

Sue Hazzard, from Amesbury, was cycling in Bulford on July 10 when she was involved in a collision with a car.

She was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital suffering with fractures, broken ribs and nerve damage to her right leg.

Mrs Hazzard, 53, is a member of and coach at City of Salisbury Athletics Club and had run 13 marathons before her accident.

She had to undergo a lot of physiotherapy to rebuild her strength.

She took part in the Salisbury Triathlon on Sunday and will be doing the Durrington Triathlon in June to raise money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance, which provided her with emergency care that could have made all the difference in her recovery.

Mrs Hazzard is hoping to take part in the London Marathon next year.
