A NOISY drain cover is causing a nightly nuisance to people living in Castle Street, Salisbury.
The drain cover near Capita was not put back properly following resurfacing works earlier this year.
John Leadbeater, chairman of the residents’ association at nearby Archers Court, said: “It now makes a loud clanging noise whenever a car or van goes over it.
It’s not pleasant during the day and during the night it is disturbing people.”
Cynthia Searle, 90, whose flat is near the drain cover, has been woken up by the noise.
“It’s very irritating,” she said. “It’s quite quiet until about 7am when the traffic starts.”
Mr Leadbeater said: “I contacted Wiltshire Council a month ago and they assured me it would be fixed in nine days. I’ve called them every week since.”
A Wiltshire Council spokesman said: “We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused, and will ensure the issue is resolved as soon as possible.”
