RINGWOOD’S International Festival of Street Performance Art is being held today.

Buskers, bands, living statues and singers plus poets and street performances will be taking to the streets as part of the one day spectacular organised by the Fanfare for Spring group.

The first festival, the brainchild of gallery owner and artist Roger Bettle, was held last year.

The festival was an enormous success and is hoped that it will become an annual feature in the town’s social calendar.

Mr Bettle said: “The town was excited by the event last year, so we thought we should repeat it. I am hoping we can expand the idea, attracting even more performers and visitors.”

More than 40 acts will be performing at this year’s event, including Spank the Planks Appalachian Clog Dance team, Ringwood and Burley Band and acrobatic dance group Joli Vyann.

Performing in the Market Place at 5pm will be swing band In the Pink, along with an Andrew Sisters tribute band.
