Salisbury Journal: Good rating for Trafalgar School Good rating for Trafalgar School

THE Trafalgar School at Downton has retained its ‘good’ rating in its latest Ofsted report.

Inspectors evaluated the school’s effectiveness and student achievement and praised its leadership and management, the supportive “family atmosphere” and the quality of teaching.

Students are making good progress, especially in maths, and there are good relationships between students and adults and a secure environment for learning.

“The governors and I, and indeed all of our staff, are delighted with the report,” said the school’s new headteacher, Stewart Roderick.

“The staff at Trafalgar School work incredibly hard to secure the best outcomes for our students, and we are delighted that this has been recognised by the inspectors”.

Mr Roderick joined The Trafalgar School in April from The John Hanson Community School in Andover. “The foundations to be an ‘outstanding’ school are here at Trafalgar,” he added.

“There are, of course, areas in which we can still improve and I will be focussing on developing these areas going forward”.
