A GRIEVING family are staging a sponsored walk to raise money for a headstone for a little boy who died at birth.

The cause of baby Keelan James Taylor’s death on March 23 is still being established.

His funeral took place earlier this month, but his parents, Ilona Woods and Paul Taylor, did not have £3,000 for the headstone they had set their hearts on.

So his aunt, Kristina Gladwyn, decided something had to be done.

“Ilona found a headstone that she really, really liked, but she was so upset because she couldn’t afford it,” said Mrs Gladwyn, a 29-year-old full-time mum from Ludgershall.

“I wanted to do something to help because of the stress she and Paul are under, and a friend and I came up with the idea of the walk.

“My sister gave birth at Salisbury Hospital so we are walking from there to the grave in Ludgershall.

“Any money we raise over the cost of the headstone will go to the Benson Suite for bereaved families at the hospital, because that’s where they spent most of their time.”

Miss Woods, a 27-year-old teaching assistant from Tidworth, and floor layer Mr Taylor, 23, are planning to marry next year.

About 20 people have so far agreed to take part in the walk, on June 28, and will be carrying collecting buckets along the route.

The family have also set up a Facebook page for donations at gogetfunding.com/project/keelan-james-taylor-1.
