POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a four-year-old boy was injured by a dog while walking with his mother and sister in Churchill Gardens, Salisbury.

The incident happened at 12.30pm on Sunday, April 6 when a 28-year-old woman, five-year-old daughter and four-year-old son were walking their Chihuahua on its lead in the park.

A tan and white Staffordshire bull terrier-type dog wearing a harness attacked the chihuahua.

The woman picked up her dog, and the staffie then knocked four-year-old boy to the ground.

The owners of the dog appeared, called it away and left the area via the underpass towards Greyfriars without leaving their details.

Police would like to talk to the couple, described as a white man in his late 20s or early 30s, slim, 5ft 8ins, with short brown hair and a tanned complexion and wearing a white t-shirt with a logo on the front and jogging bottoms, and a white female with blonde hair in her late 20s or early 30s, slim, 5ft 6ins and wearing a vivid blue sports jacket and jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Mike Parrott of Salisbury Police on 101.
