Volunteers needed for dementia service
MORE volunteers are needed to help people with dementia find a voice and get the service they deserve.
Swan Advocacy, which gives advice and support to vulnerable members of our soicety, is seeking to recruit and train volunteers for its Dementia Advocacy Project.
The project, funded by the Lloyds Bank Foundation, will support individuals experiencing memory loss or in the early stages of dementia living in some of the most isolated, rural areas of Wiltshire, with Durrington, Tisbury and Dinton among the first places where the service will be set up.
Project leader Sarah Ride said: “The aim of the project is to ensure that individuals are supported to raise concerns about their health, access the services that they want and are able to make informed choices about their future.”
Swan offers comprehensive induction and ongoing nationally recognised advocacy training in exchange for a commitment for our volunteers to support clients on a flexible basis, as the need arises and to participate in the supervision and support provided.
