POLICE and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire Angus Macpherson is out of intensive care and continuing to recover after being taken ill last month.
Mr Macpherson was flown by air ambulance to the Royal United Hospital in Bath after suffering a suspected heart attack on May 30.
He was taken ill while visiting Andrew Murrison, the MP for south west Wiltshire, at his constituency offices in Trowbridge.
Kieran Kilgallen, chief executive of the office of the PCC, who met members of Mr Macpherson’s family on Monday afternoon, said: “Angus is out of the intensive therapy unit. He is sitting up in bed on the ward, talking to his family and continuing to improve steadily.
“He has asked that we pass on his thanks for the very many messages he has received wishing him a speedy recovery.”
