THERE are just five days left to sign up for this year’s Walk for Wards and raise money for the Stars Appeal.

The event takes place at Wilton House on Sunday, June 22 and anyone who wants to be part of it must register by Monday.

Walk for Wards includes a family-friendly 3km walk and a tougher 10k route through the Wilton Estate.

BBC newsreader Sally Taylor is due to set the walkers on their way.

Everyone who signs up is asked to raise at least £15 in sponsorship but most people raise a lot more.

Last year the event saw 1500 walkers raise a record breaking £78,000 between them.

The money goes to fund projects and activities at Salisbury District Hospital.

Walkers can choose whether to raise funds for a specific ward or the Stars Appeal’s “wish list” which will benefit patients throughout the hospital.

Many decide to support a department which has helped, or continues to care for, a loved one.

Signs on their backs explain why they are taking part in the walk and who they are walking for.

Everyone who joins Walk for Wards gets a free lunch and can stay and relax in the grounds of Wilton House afterwards.

They also get the satisfaction of doing something to help all the local people who need hospital treatment now and in the future.

To sign up for Walk for Wards go to starsappeal.org or call 01722 429005.
