Toilets will put people off

HAVING just read in the Journal about the state of the toilets in Salisbury, I feel I must write.

A friend of mine, who lives in Bexhill, was on a coach trip to Stourhead and used the toilets in Salisbury while on a break. My friend remarked to me how bad the toilets were. It was her first visit to Salisbury and she was not very impressed.

This is not very good for tourism as it could put people off.

The toilets in the coach park are disgusting. I recently walked in and there were two men at the urinals, one was on his knees drenched in urine in front of the other who had his trousers round his ankles. I wouldn't have minded if they were vaguely attractive - they were certainly not! Hardly the welcome I had hoped for when visiting Salisbury for the first time!

I often plan my global holidays around the public toilets, so this is a very insightful letter, wow, thank you.

Perhaps Trip Advisor can start including a section on public toilet tourism.

We also need to recognise the Salisbury Journal for this compelling journalism

I called in the Market Square toilets today and found a message saying "THESE TOILET'S STINK" smeared in human faeces across the wall.

I was appalled as there's no apostrophe in toilets

Who has responsibility for these toilets? If it's the council then get in there and clean them and don't bother giving any lame excuses as to why they can't be kept clean.

What ever is the matter with those responsible for cleaning and the cretins who pee all over the floor and do worse things with human faeces. About time they all grew up!!

I had cause to visit the toilets many months ago and I must profoundly disagree with the earlier comments. I found them quite enchanting, so much so, that I plan on bring a small cream tea with a selection of finger sandwiches on my next visit.

Salisbury may not be perfect, but in this instance they have exceeded themselves in provision of facilities.
