DIAMOND couple Stan and Olive Evans are celebrating 60 years of marriage today.
The couple met when Mr Evans worked in a greengrocer’s in Estcourt Road, Salisbury and his future wife worked two doors along at the bakery.
Their first outing together was to Salisbury Fair, and they married at Laverstock on June 19, 1954.
The newlyweds settled in Boscombe Down when Mr Evans began working for the Ministry of Defence as an instrument maker.
His wife worked at Druid’s restaurant in Amesbury and as a dinner lady at Stonehenge School.
The couple have four children, Ken, Christine, Jacqueline and Philip and enjoy spending time with their grandchildren and great grandchildren.
