WORKING together and encouraging each other to reach new heights saw 18 members of 1st Landford Brownies achieve new skills while completing a challenge badge.

The pack were on a visit to Foxlease Guide centre in the New Forest where they learned to belay (control the ropes) of those climbing tall trees or creating giant stacks of crates.

Learning the techniques gave the girls confidence and knowledge of their abilities, reassured that their team mate below would be looking after them as they scaled the 100ft tall oak tree. Over the past six months the Brownies have completed a series of challenges that have developed self knowledge, skills and encouraged them to be part of their community while finding out about Girlguiding around the world.

Brown Owl Chris Ellis said: “It was an amazing evening, with all the brownies achieving far more than they thought they could, combining good team work, support and encouragement.”
