THREE charities have each received £2,500 following Salisbury Rotary Club’s 10th annual swimathon.
The event, sponsored by the Journal, raised a total of £10,000 and, after expenses, Parkinson’s UK, Wiltshire’s Life Education Centre and Morning Star each received £2,500.
The balance was donated to various charities supported by the Rotary Club of Salisbury.
The swimathon, held at Godolphin School in April, saw 26 teams and 161 swimmers swim a total of 3,912 lengths.
The aim was to swim a virtual tour round the Isle of Wight, which they did successfully.
The Salisbury Select V111 team was crowned winner of the Rotary Shield for the most lengths, with its members swimming 247 lengths in 55 minutes.
