A NEW foodbank will open in Verwood tomorrow.

Ringwood Foodbank will open its second distribution centre in the Verwood United Reformed Church in Manor Road at 11.30am.

The new centre will provide emergency food aid as well as information and friendship for individuals and families in crisis in East Dorset.

Ringwood Foodbank has been operating for eleven months and has given food aid to more than 450 adults and children.

Some 46 volunteers have stepped forward to help run the new centre, and the Revd Julian Macro and Alan Harley have provided the premises at the United Reformed Church.

Many people have donated food and funds, and Churches Together in Verwood is distributing an information leaflet to households in the area.

The Verwood Distribution Centre will be open each Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 11.30am and 1.30pm.
