Summer fete at Appleford

A SUMMER fete was held at Appleford School at the weekend to celebrate an outstanding rating from Ofsted.

The school, which caters for children with dyslexia, is also celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.

Many activities took place on Sunday afternoon including music, dance, an obstacle course, face-painting and paintball.

Pupils past and present were welcomed, and the school’s patron, actor Zoë Wanamaker, went along to plant a commemorative silver birch tree.

The event also saw a new classroom block and boarding accommodations officially opened by Brigadier Jez Bennett.

Headteacher David King said: “The event was a resounding success. It was wonderful to meet so many past pupils and to learn of the achievements to date and now we look forward to the next 25 years.”
